Fraser has significant expertise in the intergenerational transfer of wealth, with particular emphasis on succession planning for family owned businesses. His strong background in both trust and tax matters means that he is well-placed to understand the technical issues involved in those transfers and his considerable experience of working with business owners allows him to understand and manage the wider issues and concerns that usually accompany these ‘once-in-a-generation’ transfers.
Before joining Ogier in 2016 Fraser worked for HBJ Gateley in Edinburgh where he was an associate in the Private Client and Trust team specialising in inheritance tax and succession planning.
Fraser received his law degree from the University of Edinburgh and his Diploma in Legal Practice from Glasgow Graduate School of Law. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT), the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT), and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
